# Spider-Man Rakdos Mayhem

- Format: casual 60-card constructed, intended for two players.
- Colors: black and red.
- List: [spm-rakdos-mayhem.csv](spm-rakdos-mayhem.csv).
- Guide (Spanish): [guide_spm-rakdos-mayhem.html](guide_spm-rakdos-mayhem.html).
- Composition: 25 creatures, 12 other spells, 23 lands.
- Sources: only cards recorded in the Spider-Man CSV, plus basic lands.
- Status: proposal, not a record of cards removed from available inventory.

This collection-limited deck deliberately includes the SPE printings of Green
Goblin, Nemesis and Pumpkin Bombs because the intended format is casual. It is
not a tournament Standard legality claim. It shares no nonbasic cards with
[Selesnya Web-Slinging](../spm-selesnya-web-slinging/README.md), so both
proposals can be assembled at the same time.

## Game plan

1. Start with Masked Meower, Hobgoblin or Scarlet Spider. Preserve a mayhem card
in hand when a discard outlet is available.
2. Discard Scarlet Spider, Swarm, Electro's Bolt or Carnage to pay for Pumpkin
Bombardment, Romantic Rendezvous, Masked Meower or another engine, then cast
that card from the graveyard for its mayhem cost.
3. Turn every discard into pressure with Hobgoblin, Green Goblin, Nemesis and
Green Goblin, Revenant. Shriek removes a blocker and rewards removal.
4. Rebuild with Carnage or finish through flying and menace. Pumpkin Bombs is a
one-shot refill and damage source when two useful discard targets are ready.

## Opening hands

Keep two or three lands with both colors, an early creature, a discard outlet
and at least one card that benefits from being discarded. Pumpkin Bombardment
plus Scarlet Spider or Swarm is an ideal start. Avoid hands made entirely of
four- and five-mana legends or hands where Romantic Rendezvous would force the
discard of the only threat.

## Important interactions

- Mayhem changes how a discarded card may be cast, but it does not change its
timing. Scarlet Spider, Electro's Bolt and Carnage normally wait for an empty
stack during a main phase; Swarm can be cast at instant speed because it has
  flash.
- Pumpkin Bombardment discards while paying its additional cost. After it
resolves and the stack is empty, the discarded mayhem card can be cast.
- Hobgoblin receives +2/+0 for every card discarded, including land cards.
Green Goblin, Nemesis instead puts counters on Goblins for nonlands and makes
  tapped Treasures for lands.
- Green Goblin, Revenant counts every card discarded earlier in the turn, not
only the card discarded by its attack trigger.
- Carnage may return a creature with mana value three or less. That creature
must attack when able and is sacrificed only if it deals combat damage to a
  player.
- Pumpkin Bombs deals its fuse-counter damage before the targeted opponent
gains control of it. Plan its activation as a burst of cards, not a permanent
  engine.

## List conventions

The CSV uses the same 24 columns, in the same order, as the collection's precon
exports. Nonbasic metadata comes from
[the Spider-Man opening](<../../../booster-pulls/Marvel's%20Spider-Man%20(SPM)/cards.csv>).
This casual list may use SPM, SPE and MAR rows from that file. Selected copies
never exceed recorded quantities or the four-copy limit. Regular copies are
preferred when available; Green Goblin, Nemesis and Pumpkin Bombs use their
recorded foil SPE printings. Prices come from the export, not a fresh market
quote, and `Value_USD` is recalculated for the selected copies.

Enough basic lands are assumed available. Their quantities use
`Quantity_Regular` as a planning convention, not a verified finish. Printing,
condition, price and image fields remain blank. There is no sideboard.
