# Avatar Izzet Lessons

- Format: casual 60-card constructed, intended for two players.
- Colors: blue and red.
- List: [tla-izzet-lessons.csv](tla-izzet-lessons.csv).
- Guide (Spanish): [guide_tla-izzet-lessons.html](guide_tla-izzet-lessons.html).
- Composition: 13 creatures, 24 other spells, 23 lands.
- Lessons: 20 copies across 9 different names, all in the main deck.
- Sources: only the recorded Avatar opening, plus basic lands.
- Status: proposal, not a record of cards removed from available inventory.

No cards are taken from Tyranid Swarm, other precons, The Hobbit, DSK or MKM.
This deck does not require a commander. It is a collection-limited casual list,
not a tournament legality claim or a playtested claim of competitive strength.

## Game plan

1. Develop cheap creatures and use removal to survive the early turns.
2. Put Lesson cards into the graveyard through casting, discarding or trading
resources. With three Lessons there, Gran-Gran discounts noncreature spells
and Accumulate Wisdom puts all three cards it finds into your hand.
3. Finish with Dragonfly Swarm, prowess attackers or Lightning Strike. Preserve
threats with Octopus Form and use Deserter's Disciple to enable attacks.

Gran-Gran has no tap ability of her own. Attacking or helping pay a waterbend
cost can trigger her draw-and-discard ability. Waterbending Lesson provides
another draw spell and an opportunity to tap her while paying its waterbend
cost. Professor Zei filters cards without attacking.

Firebending mana lasts only until the end of combat. Use it for instants or
activated abilities; it does not carry over to the second main phase.
Jeong Jeong's copied Lesson is not cast and does not become an additional
Lesson card in your graveyard. Most removal in the deck targets creatures;
Lightning Strike can also target a player.

## Opening hands

Keep two or three lands with access to both colors, an early play and useful
interaction or card selection. A one-land hand is unreliable despite the low
curve. The mana base is 11 Islands, 10 Mountains and 2 Airship Engine Rooms.
Only the two dual lands enter tapped.

## List conventions

The CSV uses the same 24 columns, in the same order, as the collection's precon
exports. Nonbasic printing metadata is copied from
[the Avatar opening](<../../../booster-pulls/Avatar%20The%20Last%20Airbender%20(TLA)/cards.csv>).
Selected copies never exceed recorded quantities or the four-copy limit.
Regular copies are preferred where available; the third Accumulate Wisdom
uses the recorded foil. Prices come from the export, not a fresh market quote,
and `Value_USD` is recalculated for the selected copies.

Enough basic lands are assumed available. Basic quantities use
`Quantity_Regular` as a planning convention, not a verified finish. Their
printing, condition, price and image fields remain blank. No sideboard is
included. The guide embeds its own CSS, JavaScript and card data; only the
Scryfall images require an internet connection.
